LITURGY REQUEST:

If a liturgy is requested for a specific date, please call Paula Slemons @ (330)799-5983 to ensure this date. Unfortunately, liturgy requests have not been given due to not receiving them in time. We do apologize and hope to rectify this situation by calling Paula and confirming, not just placing them in the collection basket.

HELPING HANDS:

Thank you to all who came out this Saturday for “helping hands” at the cemetery. The grounds look beautiful.

May God all of you for your time and hard work.

PHONE NUMBER REQUEST:

There is a sign-up sheet for parishioners to give their phone numbers in order to receive phone information/updates on our church if interested.

THANK YOU:

Thank you to Infant Jesus GCU Lodge 442 who donated the beautiful flowers at the cemetery. The grounds look wonderful.

MEMORIAL DAY:

On Sunday May 30th, the 9:00 am liturgy @ Infant Jesus and the 11:00 am liturgy at St. Nicholas will be for veterans, armed services members, civil servants, first responders and front -line workers. Following the Liturgies, there will be a blessing and raising of the flag. Parishioners and guests are invited to bring their NEW flags for blessing. This event is sponsored by GCU 422.

PETROVKA:

By Fr. Basil Shereghy

ST. PETER’S FAST is the most recent of our four yearly fasts. It was probably introduced by monks within the last few centuries in memory of the fact that these two

apostles strengthened themselves spiritually by fasting. The Church, using the example of these two illustrious saints, prescribes a period of fast immediately before their feasts.

The so-called Peter’s Fast begins on Monday after the Sunday of All Saints and ends on

the 28th of June. Because, however, the Sunday of All Saints does not fall every year on

the same day, this fast may last anywhere from eight days to six weeks.

According to the tradition of our Archeparchy, faithful are to abstain from meat products on Wednesdays and Fridays during Peter’s fast.
