Pilgrim Vocation Icon Program to begin in 2 weeks! The seeds of God’s grace are planted in our hearts hoping to find fertile fields that will bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit and, in particular, ministerial service in the Church. Prayer is integral in the process of nurturing Church vocations. On Sunday, October 5th, the entire Byzantine Catholic Church in America is beginning a Pilgrim Vocation Icon Program. Each week, the icon is taken by a household in the parish. Those who accept the icon agree to pray daily during that time for religious and priestly vocations. Everyone in the parish is invited and encouraged to have this icon in their home for one week. Prayer booklets are provided. Please see the sign-up sheet in the vestibule. Please see Fr. Michael for further information.

the enjoyment OF earthly goods.

Clement of Alexandria: Those who neglect good works may fail to grasp just how much the good work of God has benefited them. Hence, they are less capable of praying fittingly so as to receive good things from God. And even if they receive them, they will likely be unaware of what has been given them. And even if they enjoy them, they will not enjoy worthily what they have not understood. For from their lack of knowledge they will not grasp how to use the good things given them. And from their impulsiveness they will remain ignorant of how to avail themselves of the divine gifts offered. Stromata 6.14.
