YOUNG ADULT PILGRIMAGE:
On September 26, 2026, there will be a Young Adult Pilgrimage sponsored by our Archeparchy at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, in North Jackson. Single or married, ages 18-39, are all welcomed. The day begins at 9:15 am with confessions followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am with Archbishop William. Full schedule will be announced as date gets closer.
CORN ROAST:
Mark your calendars, we will be having a Corn Roast on September 13th at 3:00 pm in the church pavilion. There is a sign-up sheet on the table. As always, hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, drinks and of course the CORN will be provided. We ask everyone to bring their favorite side dish or dessert. We will be having a Bounce House and games with prizes for the children and another corn hole tournament for the adults with a cash prize to the winners. Hoping the weather is good for us to have a campfire, and all can enjoy smores. We hope everyone can attend to help close the summer season!!!

PILGRIMAGE:
The 92nd Annual Pilgrimage in Honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help will be held at Mount St. Macrina in Uniontown NEXT WEEKEND September 5-6, 2026.This event is hosted by our Sisters of St. Basil the Great. This year’s theme is Theotokos: Beacon of Hope. Please see their website, or the BCW for more information.
SANCTUARY CANDLES:
The sanctuary candle will be lit for the entire week. For the week of August 30-September 5, 2026, the left sanctuary candle is in memory of +Dorothy Blasko and the right sanctuary candle is in memory of +Nicholas Blasko. Both candles are from their family.
BYZANTINE CHAPEL PROJECT – PROGRESS UPDATE
We are pleased to share an update on the transformation of the Small Hall in the Byzantine Social Centre into a Byzantine Chapel.
A contract has been signed with Murphy Contracting, and work is already well underway in accordance with the plans approved at the beginning of our Capital Campaign.
Completed / In Progress:
- Demolition has been completed and the wall for the icon screen has been refurbished.
- Ceiling tiles and floor finish have been selected.
- Ceiling tiles is currently being installed.
- Electrical work is in progress, including the relocation of the fire alarm system and sprinklers.
- The wall and door for the sacristy have been installed.
- A special altar raiser has been installed.
We are grateful for the steady progress and for the continued support of our parish community and Capital Campaign donors that is making this project possible.
We are planing to have a final Liturgy on September 27, 2026 at 11 AM, all are invited.

22:1-2 The Kingdom of Heaven Is Like a Marriage Feast
Invitation to the feast. Gregory The Great: First we must ask whether this lesson in Matthew is what Luke describes as a dinner, since some details appear inconsistent. Here it is a midday meal, there a dinner; here the one who came to the marriage feast improperly dressed was cast out, and there none of those said to have entered is shown to have been cast out. From Matthew we can infer that in this passage the marriage feast represents the church of the present time, and the dinner in Luke represents the final and eternal banquet. Some who enter the one will leave it, but no one who has once entered the other will later go out. But if anyone argues that it is the same lesson, I think it better to save the faith and yield to another’s interpretation than to give in to strife. Perhaps we can reasonably take it that Luke kept silent about the man Matthew said came without a marriage garment and was thrown out. That one called it a dinner and the other a midday meal does not stand in the way of my interpretation, because when the ancients took their daily midday meal at the ninth hour it was also called a dinner….
A clearer and safer thing to say is that the Father made a marriage feast for his Son by joining the church to him through the mystery of his incarnation, The womb of the Virgin who bore him was the bridal chamber of this bridegroom, and so the psalmist says, “He has set his tent in the sun, and he is like a bridegroom coming forth from his bridal chamber.” He truly came forth like a bridegroom from his bridal chamber who, as God incarnate, left the inviolate womb of the Virgin to unite the church to himself.
And so he sent his servants to invite his friends to the marriage feast. He sent once, and he sent again, because first he made the prophets and later the apostles preachers of the Lord’s incarnation. He sent his servants twice with the invitation, because he said through the prophets that his only Son’s incarnation would come about, and he proclaimed through the apostles that it had.
Because those who were first invited to the marriage banquet refused to come, he said in his second invitation, “See, I have prepared my meal; my oxen and fattened animals have been slain, and everything is ready.” What do we take the oxen and fattened animals to be but the fathers of the Old and New Testaments? Forty Gospel homilies 38.1.3-4.
