YOUNG ADULT PILGRIMAGE:
On September 26, 2026, there will be a Young Adult Pilgrimage sponsored by our Archeparchy at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, in North Jackson. Single or married, ages 18-39, are all welcomed. The day begins at 9:15 am with confessions followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am with Archbishop William. Full schedule will be announced as date gets closer.
CORN ROAST:
We will be having a Corn Roast NEXT SUNDAY, September 13th at 3:00 pm at Infant Jesus Church pavilion. There is a sign-up sheet on the table. As always, hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, drinks and of course the CORN will be provided. We ask everyone to bring their favorite side dish or dessert. We will be having a Bounce House and games with prizes for the children and another corn hole tournament for the adults with a cash prize to the winners. Hoping the weather is good for us to have a campfire, and all can enjoy smores. We hope everyone can attend to help close the summer season!!!

SANCTUARY CANDLES:
The sanctuary candle will be lit for the entire week. For the week of September 6-12, 2026, 2026, the left sanctuary candle is in memory of +Katherine Fuzer from Myron Terlecky. There is no request for the right sanctuary candle.
BYZANTINE CHAPEL PROJECT – PROGRESS UPDATE
We are pleased to share an update on the transformation of the Small Hall in the Byzantine Social Centre into a Byzantine Chapel.
A contract has been signed with Murphy Contracting, and work is already well underway in accordance with the plans approved at the beginning of our Capital Campaign.
Completed / In Progress:
- Demolition has been completed and the wall for the icon screen has been refurbished.
- Ceiling tiles and floor finish have been selected.
- Ceiling tiles is currently being installed.
- Electrical work is in progress, including the relocation of the fire alarm system and sprinklers.
- The wall and door for the sacristy have been installed.
- A special altar raiser has been installed.
We are grateful for the steady progress and for the continued support of our parish community and Capital Campaign donors that is making this project possible.
We are planing to have a final Liturgy on September 27, 2026 at 11 AM, all are invited.

Who can rightly call him teacher?
Origen: Now let us consider one argument of entrapment: “Teacher,” he says, “what is the greater commandment in the law?” He says “teacher” trying to entrap him, since he offers his thoughts not as a disciple of Christ. This however, will be clearer from an example we now offer. Consider: The father of a son is indeed the father, and no one else is able to call him father except the son; and the mother of a daughter is indeed her mother, and no one else can call her mother except her own daughter. And so the teacher of a disciple is indeed his teacher, and the disciple of a teacher is truly his disciple. As a result, no one is able to say “teacher” properly except a disciple. And see how, on account of this, that not all who call him teacher do so appropriately but only those who have a desire to learn from him. He said to his disciples, “You call me teacher and lord, and rightly so, for so I am.” Therefore disciples of Christ properly indeed address him as teacher, and by this word from the Lord himself his servants rightly call him Lord. Thus the apostle spoke well when he said, “Yet for us there is one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and for whom we exist.” And consider what he says, “It is enough for the disciple to be” not simply like a teacher but “like his teacher.” Therefore if anyone does not learn something from this word or surrender himself with his whole heart, in order to become his delightful dwelling place but still calls him “teacher,” he is brother to the Pharisees attempting to entrap Christ while calling him “teacher.” And so all who say “Our Father who art in heaven” ought not to have “the spirit of slavery in fear but a spirit of the adoption of sons.” However, whoever does not have “the spirit of adoption of sons” and yet says “Our Father who art in heaven” is lying, since he is not a son of God, while calling God his father.
